- Dave Syfczak, long-time volunteer caretaker and guardian of the Uptown Theatre
Hear about the century-old theater’s remarkable story—from its dazzling grand opening and heyday as an entertainment landmark to its decades-long closure and the ongoing efforts to bring it back to life.
Guests will also have the opportunity to explore the Museum’s Uptown Theatre pop-up display within Chicago: Crossroads of America before the discussion, highlighting the theater’s place in Chicago’s cultural history.
Historical Alliance members are invited to arrive at 5:00 p.m. for an exclusive viewing of archival materials from the Chicago History Museum’s collection related to the Uptown Theatre, available only before the program.
