The Chicago History Museum is temporarily closed to the public until further notice to support the state of Illinois’s efforts to contain the spread of COVID-19. While we’d love to see you enjoy Chicago history in person, we also want you to stay safe. You can still engage with the Museum through our online exhibitions, virtual programs, and digital resources. Learn more about our current offerings.

We realize that not all researchers are able to visit the Research Center in person. We provide many resources online in the research section of our website. If you require a detailed or time-critical response not found online, we may suggest that you hire a freelance researcher. If you require a response not available online, please use our contact form to send us your inquiry.
If you have objects, images, or documents you believe would complement our collection, please review our collection donation information, which includes our collecting scope as well as the appropriate online form and contact information.
Field Trip Reservations
Due to the popularity of school group visits, reservations must be made in advance and in writing. Please use the field trip reservation form. Your visit is not guaranteed until you have received a confirmation letter from the Museum. Field trips are free for Illinois students, pre-K to grade 12. Out-of-state students are $8 each.
