The Costume Council of the Chicago History Museum invites you to a special presentation by fashion director, consultant, media personality and author Hal Rubenstein as he discusses his new book Dressing the Part: Television’s Most Stylish Shows (October 2023). In a conversation with Fern Mallis, former executive director of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, Rubenstein will explore television’s lasting impact on fashion culture and the closets of everyday Americans. From the 1950s to today, guests will learn the surprising ways our favorite shows have significantly reflected and often shaped the way we dress.
