Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Chicago History Museum. We welcome applicants who are enthusiastic, responsible, good-natured, and willing to commit their time while they share their expertise and talents. Volunteering at the Chicago History Museum will enable you to learn about history, develop new skills, and establish rewarding relationships with visitors, staff, and other volunteers. Before completing this application, please review the listed volunteer opportunity descriptions which can be found on the volunteer page of the Chicago History Museum website.

In most cases, the Chicago History Museum asks volunteers to commit to at least one full year of service.

Volunteer gallery interpreters (volunteers who work with visitors in our exhibitions) are scheduled to work 2 – 4 hours one weekend day twice a month, or one weekday every week.
Volunteers in other areas of the museum will determine a schedule with their supervisors.Most volunteer activities occur during the daytime.
Event and Program Volunteers will have opportunities to volunteer during events that happen during the daytime as well as evenings.
