CHM programs are an extension of our mission to Share Chicago’s Stories. They are designed to help people discover a new neighborhood, connect with the past, and to feel more deeply rooted in the community.
Engage with Chicago stories in and out of the Museum’s walls through our city tours, talks, and family, community and special events that nurture your curiosity about the past and inspire you to reflect on Chicago’s future.

OUT at CHM
Now in its fifteenth year, the Museum’s popular and provocative series delves into the storied history of Chicago’s LGBTQ communities. This season, we explore the connections between activism of the past and how today’s calls to action propel cultural disruption.
History Happy Hour
This quarterly series features two drinks on us, tours, talks, and activities highlighting our collection and exhibitions.
Chicago Hot Dog Fest
Chicago Hot Dog Fest hits the core of our food-loving city’s love affair with the ubiquitous encased meat—the hot dog.
Held just steps from, and benefiting, the Museum, it has all the ingredients of an exceptional summer event.
The Last Speakeasy on the Eve of the Repeal
This annual event celebrates the anniversary of the repeal of prohibition. Grab some giggle water, test your luck at the tables, and stretch your stilts on the dance floor all night long–or at least until the feds find us!
Family Programs
Interactive activities, workshops, celebrations, and festivals.
Commemorative Days
Millennium Park Family Fun Tent
