Welcome to Chicago Metro History Fair — Where the Students Become the Historians!
The Chicago Metro History Fair is now a part of the Chicago History Museum’s education programming. CMHF challenges students to become historians, and better citizens, by actually doing history: researching, analyzing, forming a thesis, writing, and producing historical scholarship. Students chose their own topics and the form of their project, be it exhibits, documentaries, performances, papers and websites that are presented in annual competitions around the Chicagoland area. More than 500 adults volunteer each spring as judges at CMHF competitions, without whom—along with teachers, parents, and scholarly institutions throughout the city—the CMHF could not happen.
