Bach’s Concerto for Two Violins and Orchestra in D minor. Thirteen-year-old violin prodigy Katherine Schaufenbuel will pair with Quint on J. S. Ruby Oram\, Assistant Professor of Practice at Texas State University\, presents “Home Work: Gender\, Child Labor\, and Education in Urban America\, 1870–1930.” \nThis talk explores how Progressive Era reformers like Jane Addams used public education to police the labor lives of working-class girls in industrial cities. Drawing from her forthcoming book\, Home Work: Gender\, Child Labor\, and Education for Girls in Urban America\, 1870–1930\, Oram highlights how reforming girls’ education cemented inequalities of gender\, race\, and class in Chicago Public Schools. \nFree; RSVP required. \nThe session will open at 6:45 p.m. with the program starting at 7:00 p.m. and concluding by 8:15 p.m.

Storyteller: Tales from a Fashion Insider weaves the incredible tapestry of Banks’s life—a fashion designer who rose from Ralph Lauren intern to award-winning menswear creator and an acclaimed champion of diversity and classic American style. \nIn Storyteller\, Banks shares intimate stories about designing for celebrities and his close friendship with Ralph Lauren and Calvin Klein\, who became his mentors. His friendships with Audrey Hepburn\, Bobby Short\, and Barbra Streisand are also highlighted in the book. The book also explores Banks’s advocacy for diversity in fashion and his tireless support for young designers.
