Narrated by Christian himself as he acts\, sings and speaks the story of his remarkable life in filmed cabaret performances across New York and London. Revealing interviews and rare archival footage of his most celebrated ballets also place Christian at the center of important social and political issues such as racism\, the AIDS crisis\, and antiwar protests. Tragically\, Christian Holder’s life was cut short on February 18\, 2025\, yet his extraordinary story lives on in Christian Holder: My Life Is Dance.

SUMMARY:Partner Event | Stories We Wear: Fashion as Visual Narrative
DESCRIPTION:What stories do our clothes tell about who we are\, where we come from\, and how we wish to be seen? \nPresented in partnership with Fashion Film Festival Chicago\, join us at the Chicago History Museum for an afternoon of international fashion films\, creative conversations\, and audience participation exploring the relationship between fashion\, film\, identity\, and personal expression. \nFeaturing work by filmmakers including Olivier Ronot\, Victor Claramunt\, and Perry Curties\, the program brings together distinct approaches to visual storytelling—from intimate explorations of identity and emotion to imaginative cinematic narratives that combine fashion\, movement\, humor\, and striking imagery. \nThe afternoon will also feature Show and Tell: Shaping a Personal Narrative\, an interactive program developed by fashion artists and educators Kristin Mariani and Caroline Bellios. Through conversation and audience participation\, visitors are asked to consider the memories\, cultural histories\, and personal stories carried by the clothes we wear. \nPart film festival\, part cultural conversation\, Stories We Wear invites audiences to discover fashion as more than something we see or wear: it is something through which we tell our stories. \n$15; free for CHM members and students.
