CHM members are invited to an exclusive panel discussion moderated by Paul Durica\, CHM Director of Curation and Exhibitions\, featuring: \n\nRobert Loerzel\, freelance journalist and photographer and coauthor of The Uptown: Chicago’s Endangered Movie Palace\nJames A. Pierce\, coauthor of The Uptown: Chicago’s Endangered Movie Palace\nDave Syfczak\, long-time volunteer caretaker and guardian of the Uptown Theatre\n\nHear about the century-old theater’s remarkable story—from its dazzling grand opening and heyday as an entertainment landmark to its decades-long closure and the ongoing efforts to bring it back to life. \nGuests will also have the opportunity to explore the Museum’s Uptown Theatre pop-up display within Chicago: Crossroads of America before the discussion\, highlighting the theater’s place in Chicago’s cultural history. \nHistorical Alliance members are invited to arrive at 5:00 p.m. for an exclusive viewing of archival materials from the Chicago History Museum’s collection related to the Uptown Theatre\, available only before the program. \nFree for members; RSVP required.
