DESCRIPTION:The dramatic silhouettes of the 1890s were an exciting turning point in fashion history\, and we’re bringing them back for one night only! \nPresented in partnership with the Chicago Historical Costume Society\, members are invited to this historical fashion show that brings 1890s fashion to life. Learn from Chicago Historical Costume Society president Marissa Croft\, PhD\, about the styles of that decade\, as well as developments in the garment industry such as industrialization and workers’ rights. DESCRIPTION:Presented in partnership with the Glessner House\, CHM members are invited to travel back in time to Gilded Age-era Chicago through the rich history\, art\, and revolutionary architecture of this cultural center and museum. Designed by American architect Henry Hobson Richardson\, Glessner House was completed in 1887 and designated a National Historic Landmark in 1976. Enjoy tours* of select areas of the home led by Glessner House executive director & curator William Tyre and docents\, as well as an intimate reception in the coach house and courtyard. \nTickets are $25 and exclusive to Chicago History Museum members. Ticket purchases are non-refundable after September 19\, 2025. \n*Glessner House is a National Historic Landmark that requires the use of stairs during tours within the house.
