Join CHM president Gary T. Johnson for his final members’ annual meeting. After fifteen years of service to the Museum, Johnson will be retiring in early 2021. This is your last chance to hear his reflections on the current status of the Museum and his hopes for its future. Joining Johnson this evening will be award-winning author Carl S. Smith, who will be speaking about his latest book, Chicago’s Great Fire: The Destruction and Resurrection of an Iconic American City (Atlantic Monthly Press, October 6, 2020)Smith is the Franklyn Bliss Snyder Professor of English and American Studies and emeritus professor of history at Northwestern University.
