This event has been cancelled. Thank you for understanding!

Inspired by Mainbocher’s military service and contributions, discover the important role of women during World War II.

A League of Their Own
(1992), starring Tom Hanks and Geena Davis, tells a fictional tale of the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, founded by Chicago chewing gum magnate Philip K. Wrigley in 1943. The all-female league was created to keep the excitement of Major League Baseball alive while the majority of players were off fighting in World War II.

Hear about the true story of the AAGPBL and its Chicago roots from CHM historian Peter T. Alter before the screening.
