History Highlights Tour

Explore our permanent exhibition Chicago: Crossroads of America with a volunteer gallery interpreter on a 30-minute tour that focuses on a specific aspect of Chicago history.

The Great Migration—Chicago Style

Between 1916 and 1970, more than 500,000 African Americans moved to Chicago from the South during the Great Migration. Join volunteer gallery interpreter Leslie Yamshon to discover how a marginalized population emerged as a powerful force in the city’s political, economic, and cultural life by the mid-twentieth century.

Free with admission, no RSVPs needed.
