History Happy Hour
Raise a glass to history!
Sick of the same old after-work grind? Grab your pals and head on over for History Happy Hour! This monthly series features a spirits tasting, plus tours, talks, and activities highlighting our diverse collection.
Each month History Happy Hour is served up with a twist—with rotating beverage partners and unique explorations of the Museum. Drink up Chicago’s beer history on expert-led 15-minute flash tours about The Lager Beer Riots of 1855. Chicago’s first civil disturbance was caused by, you guessed it, alcohol. Discover how tensions around immigration fueled the riots on a tour of Chicago: Crossroads of America.
Woodford Reserve will be on hand with cocktails to celebrate Bourbon Heritage Month. Chuck Cowdery, spirits journalist, author, and historian will guide guests through “A Historical Journey of America’s Native Spirit–Bourbon” which will include tastings of Woodford Reserve Distiller’s Select, Woodford Reserve Rye & Woodford Reserve Double Oaked. Space to the demonstration is limited and is first-come, first served.
General admission is free for Illinois residents on Tuesday evenings; purchase a ticket to History Happy Hour to enhance your experience.
