Tuesday, September 18
Through personal reminiscences, declassified films, period stills, and recreations, A City at War: Chicago (2017) explores how a mutually beneficial relationship between FDR and Chicago’s powerful Democratic Mayor Ed Kelly helped to win World War II. The documentary reveals how the Chicago area was transformed into a well-oiled production machine, with every man, woman, and child contributing to the war effort. The program includes an introduction by and Q&A with Kris Habermehl, who is featured in the film and the long time voice for the Chicago Air & Water Show.
This documentary was underwritten exclusively by the Chicago Marine Heritage Society and its Chairman, Capt. Dave Truitt.
