Civic Talks | Race in Chicago: Social Perspectives
Tuesday, January 30 — Tuesday, January 30
Natalie Moore, WBEZ South Side reporter and author of The South Side: A Portrait of Chicago and American Segregation, moderates this two-part series inspired by Race: Are We So Different? Explore the exhibition and attend the 60-minute discussion followed by a 15-minute Q&A.
Part 1: Chicago is infamous for its entrenched racial residential segregation. Join Joy L. Bivins, CHM director of curatorial affairs, Dr. Lisa Yun Lee, executive director of the National Public Housing Museum, and Natalie Moore as they discuss the ways race shaped and continues to shape Chicagoans’ experience of the city. The dialogue is informed by the speakers’ perspectives as a journalist, historian, and social activist and enriched by their personal stories of living in Chicago.
Continue the conversation at the post-program reception in the North & Clark Café. Cash bar available.
