The 125th Anniversary Of The World’s Columbian Exposition: A Celebration
Tuesday, May 29
Parlor music was immensely popular in the late 1800s, and it was no surprise that visitors to the 1893 world’s fair commemorated their trip with sheet music. Learn more about these melodic memories as they are performed live with commentary from Lake Forest College professor Donald Meyer, the lead on this Digital Chicago project. A preceding reception features foods that were first served at this world’s fair. Presented in partnership with Digital Chicago and Lake Forest College. Digital Chicago unearths the city’s past in order to preserve it for a digital future.
