The Chicago Skyline

Chicago is famous for the beautiful buildings that make up its skyline. Some of the most recognizable buildings include:

  • the Sears Tower, which, at 1,454 feet (110 stories) was the world's tallest building until 1996
  • the John Hancock Center, with its distinctive geometric patterns created by exterior beams
  • the Chicago Water Tower and Pumping station, one of the few buildings to survive the Great Chicago Fire of 1871, today a popular tourist attraction.

The buildings that make up a city's skyline are the places that people live and work in every day. Use the elements below some real, and some imaginary to create your own city skyline.
