Frequently Asked Questions

Who are your preferred caterers?

Please download our Weddings brochure for a current list of preferred caterers.

What does the $1,500 equipment rental deposit cover?

The equipment rental deposit is used toward the rental of tables and chairs. We count the actual number of our tables and chairs used at the event to figure the final cost. If the amount is less than $1,500, the remainder is refunded. If more than $1,500, the client is billed.

Will the galleries be open during my wedding?

Exhibition galleries are closed during all weddings. We would like all of the attention to be on the couple and their big day.

Can I have my wedding rehearsal at the museum?

Yes. Rehearsals must be scheduled during museum hours, typically the day prior to the event, from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Can I use candles?

Candles are not allowed inside the event space or museum. We have great suggested alternatives, such as battery operated votives and small lamps. Candles are allowed outside on our Plaza.

Does the Museum have parking?

Yes, see Parking for more information.

Does the Chicago History Museum have any audiovisual equipment?

Most event spaces feature built-in audiovisual equipment. Please contact us at 312.799.2254 for recommendations to meet your audiovisual needs.
