A Century of Progress Bird's-Eye View of World's Fair
A Century of Progress, 1933 Onward to the Centennial

The "I Will" Maiden, showing few signs of age, beckons the world to attend the city's second great fair, the Century of Progress, which commemorated Chicago's centennial. Major landmarks that were integrated into the overall plan, as pictured in the prospective 1932 bird's-eye view on the right by H.M. Pettit, are the Shedd Aquarium, the Adler Planetarium, the Field Museum, and Soldier Field. The chieftain in the background represents the city's frontier past. Attendance totals at the Chicago Days of 1933 and 1934 were 131,025 and 63,333, respectively.
