Commemorative Day

Family Event | AAPI Heritage Month

Sunday, May 21

Celebrate Chicago’s Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community with us. AAPI Heritage Month takes place in May to commemorate two dates: May 7, 1843, when the first Japanese immigrant arrived in the US, and May 10, 1869, when the transcontinental railroad, which was built by numerous Chinese immigrant workers, was completed.

Stop by the tables on the second floor and get to know three local AAPI-related service organizations: Circa Pintig, Asian Americans Advancing Justice, and the South Asian American Policy and Research Institute (SAAPRI).

Included with general admission.
