“Unmentionables” have, until recent times, been a closely guarded secret shrouded in mystery. In the nineteenth century, the fantastical infrastructures created by corsets, petticoats, hip pads, bustles, and crinoline cages created magnificent, if somewhat perplexing, sartorial architecture. In a hopeful pursuit of elusively defined beauty and style, women have disguised and contorted their bodies for centuries. During our inaugural Costume Council Fashion Salon, all will be revealed, as we dive under the clothes to what lies are beneath.
